Our friend Tommy Perman – an artist, designer and musician based in Dundee – reworked our Welcome Strangers LP in secret throughout 2018.
When he shared his work with us late last year, we loved the results, and so did our label, Fire Records.
Less a remix than a total granulation and reformation of the sonic bedrock of the album, Emergent Slow Arcs is released on Fire on July 26th as a limited edition LP with unique hand-driven hole-punch artwork and printed inserts by Tommy.
This is what Fire say: “A set of beautiful modern electronic compositions, Tommy and Modern Studies have made ‘Welcome Strangers’ sound like Brian Eno, John Carpenter and Tangerine Dream’s grandchildren were hanging out with Aphex Twin’s twin.”
